Waag Technology and Society will open its first outpost on 21 June: planet B, a place for artistic and public research at the Amsterdam Science Park. A place for expeditions in which citizens, artists and scientists work together on an equal footing for an inclusive and ecological future.
June 21, 2019
19:00 hrs
Opening of planet B with performance and festive drink. Mainly Dutch spoken.
The opening is the first step in the mission of planet B to realise a laboratory for the future over the next five years. During the first year of this mission, the (artistic) exploration of artificial intelligence (AI) and related ethical issues are central. Thinkers, artists, organisations and knowledge institutions involved in AI are cordially invited to attend the opening.
In the AI Culture Lab, an interdisciplinary group of artists, scientists, technology developers, entrepreneurs and citizens goes in search of the role and potential of AI. In addition to the existing scientific research practice at the Amsterdam Science Park, artistic research and the citizen’s perspective are given a place in the lab. From this broad perspective the ethical, cultural, philosophical and practical dimensions of AI are investigated.
Artists (collectives) who will do artistic research at the AI Culture Lab this year are: Aesthetics of Exclusion (Sjoerd ter Borg), Antti Tenetz, Tomo Kihara en Femke Herregraven.
